14/12/2021 PES congratulates the new leader of the social democrats in North Macedonia
The PES welcomes the new leader of Social Democratic Union in North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski, who was elected with a huge majority by party members on Sunday. The 47-years old Kovacevski takes over as leader of SDSM from the former prime minister of the country Zoran Zaev. Dimitar Kovacevski will most probably be the nominee for new prime minister of North Macedonia on behalf of the social democrats in the upcoming days.

The EU Council’s adoption of a common position brings this aim closer to reality, the Party of European Socialists said today as it welcomed progress on pay transparency.

The Party of European Socialists welcomes the fact that the Council of the EU reached today its general approach on the Directive on Adequate minimum wages in the European Union. This is a vital step on the road to the Directive’s adoption and to secure fair wage thresholds for all citizens, through either strong minimum wages or by strong collective bargaining.
