Andreas Babler was born 25 February 1973 in Mödling, Lower Austria and he has a Master’s Degree in Political Communication from Danube University Krems.
He was the Vice-President of the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) between 1997-2000. A member of the town council of the municipality of Traiskirchen since 2007, in 2014-2025 he become the Mayor of the city.
He was elected Federal party chairman of the SPÖ in 2023. On 3 March 2025, Andreas Babler was appointed Vice-Chancellor and on 2 April he was appointed Federal Minister of Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport by Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen.
Andreas Babler is also PES Executive Vice-President since October 2025.
