‘HDP is a party that promotes peace, dialogue and cooperation, yet it continues to be the victim of harsh attacks. After the killings in Suruc over the summer and the Ankara bombings in October this is yet another blow for the Kurdish community. We hope that an independent inquiry into this attack will follow and we encourage the Turkish government to promote dialogue rather than confrontation in its dealings with the Kurds’, says PES President Sergei Stanishev. ‘The PES expresses its solidarity with Selahattin Demirtas and the HDP and will continue to closely monitor the situation.’
