PES President Sergei Stanishev said:
“The entire European socialist and democratic family will deeply miss David. He was a generous, relentless fighter for the European project. He dedicated his political life to the ideas of democracy, justice and equality. An example of courage and determination, he will be missed by the PES and by everyone who ever worked with him.”
David Sassoli left us early Tuesday morning aged 65 years. The PES sends its condolences to his family and friends, to the Democratic Party in Italy and to the European Parliament, which he presided over with dignity and honour to the very end.
