Among other elements, the Commission proposes a crackdown on organisations that help to set up tax avoidance schemes.
PES president Sergei Stanishev said:
“Today’s proposals are very welcome. The Party of European Socialists supports sanctions against banks, legal entities and individuals that assist in tax fraud.
“But we must also focus our attention to protecting whistle-blowers exposing illegal or unethical activities.”
Fighting tax avoidance and ensuring everyone contributes with their fair share to the welfare state is and will continue to be a key principle for our progressive family.
