Yonnec Polet stated: “Young people have been the most affected by the social and economic crisis, and it is only fair that we make our best effort to listen to their ideas and help make them a reality. Only together we can build a society where everybody has an opportunity. After the attacks in Paris and Copenhagen, it is paramount that we foster a united and inclusive society, one where the next generation has a lot to say, to effectively defeat the rising threat of extremism and terrorism”.
Other meetings will be held regularly in Brussels to ensure that these consultations with the civil society lead to concrete actions. To know more about PES positions on unemployment and extremism, read our common declarations ‘More Jobs, Better Jobs, Fairer Jobs!’ and ‘United Against Fear’.
