PES Energy Ministers support creation of a progressive Energy Union

Yonnec Polet, Deputy Secretary General of the Party of European Socialists said: “Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič did a very good job by taking a multi-dimensional approach to European energy policies. Synergies between different areas addressed by the Commissioner’s proposal will mutually reinforce the Energy Union’s objectives to deliver secure, sustainable, competitive and affordable energy to households and businesses.”

Yonnec Polet continued: “The PES will work constructively with the Commission and our S&D Group in the European Parliament to create a progressive Energy Union. A progressive Energy Union that will enhance consumers’ participation in energy production and their control over energy consumption. It will tackle energy poverty and decarbonise our economy while at the same time creating decent jobs and new businesses.  Hence, a progressive Energy Union is good for our citizens, for our climate and for our economy.”
