Progressive politicians from every level – European, national, regional and local – gather today with young socialists, women’s campaigners and progressive thinkers to push for gender equality and an end to violence against women.
Meeting in Valencia, Spain, the Party of European Socialists (PES) is joining forces with the PES Group in the European Committee of the Regions, the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE), the Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament (S&D), PES Women, the Young European Socialists (YES) and the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS).
Today, representatives begin two days of activity focused on the fight for gender equality.
This afternoon #ProgressivesSpeakUp: School of Young Local and Regional Politicians kicks off. It will bring 50 young progressives together to discuss practical policy solutions that can be put in place to improve gender equality in Europe, including from the perspective of employment, rights, climate, education, welfare and participation in politics. PES Women will also hold its statutory meeting in Valencia today to discuss actions and priorities for 2023 and beyond.
