Health and long-term care systems in the EU are based on solidarity within and between generations. These are vital to tool to ensure social cohesion and a high level of social protection of our society.

But the COVID-19 health crisis has put Europe’s health and care systems under a strain as it has also shown the worrying working conditions and wage levels of care professionals, a majority of which are women or migrant workers.

To mark the European Day of Solidarity between Generations, the Young European Socialists (YES) and the European Seniors Organisation (ESO) together with the Party of European Socialists (PES) and the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS), organised an online conference through Facebook Live with the aim of discussing intergenerational solidarity in the context of health and long-term care.
