The PES welcomes the focus of the Strategic Foresight Report, in particular the identification of the strategic priorities which closely follow PES priorities: a fair economy, social and regional cohesion, the European Pillar of Social Rights, a just transition which leaves no-one behind, the potential of digital, secure global supply chains, innovation, and democracy.
PES President Sergei Stanishev said:
“The report puts progressive policies at the heart of the EU’s long-term agenda. We now need to see these reflected in next week’s State of the Union.
“Socialists and democrats do not want to see a recovery that returns things to the way they were. The EU needs to be more ambitious about the future. We need to push ahead towards a green, digital and fair future. That is why this report is so important. It shows how we can future-proof our Union.”
PES President Sergei Stanishev also thanked Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič for his work, underlining that once again, progressives are leading on building a Europe where economic growth goes hand-in-hand with human wellbeing, sustainability, and cohesion.
