The delegation will meet the Vice-President of China Li Yuanchao, as well as the Minister of the International Department of the CPC Wang Jiarui and Member of the Politburo Liu Yunshan. A visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss current world affairs is also in the programme.
Sergei Stanishev said: “It is of utmost importance to have a working dialogue with the main actors in China. This visit will concentrate on economic issues and foreign affairs. From the PES side we are of course very interested to discuss new reforms of the Chinese economy and anti-corruption measures. It is important that they are really implemented and in the frame of the rule of law”.
Stanishev continued: “It is my conviction that EU and China could cooperate even better in the future when it comes to solving problems concerning, for example, nuclear disarmament, international peace and big environmental challenges. Even if we have disagreements in certain areas like human and trade union rights, a critical dialogue is a necessity”.
The delegation will also visit the region of Henan, to discuss economic development.
