On behalf of the Party of European Socialists Deputy Secretary General Marije Laffeber signed the public register at Amsterdam Schiphol airport. ‘We are deeply shocked by this tragedy, so many innocent lives lost’, she said.
Last Monday, the U.N. Security Council unanimously demanded that international investigators gain unfettered access to the crash site.
The tragedy cost 298 lives, among them 193 citizens from the Netherlands, 44 from Malaysia (including 15 crew), 27 from Australia, ten from the UK, four from Belgium, three from Germany and the Philippines respectively, one victim from Canada and New Zealand.
