“By attacking first the Parliament and then the adjacent Bardo Museum the terrorists clearly targeted the main Tunisian symbols of democracy and culture. We will show our defiance by continuing to support more democracy and more culture. The climate of fear they wish to install will not prevail”, continues PES Deputy Secretary General Giacomo Filibeck. “This tragic event shows once again that the threat of fanatic and criminal terrorism affects us all, everywhere. We welcome High Representative Federica Mogherini’s initiative to step up efforts to provide more security and stability in the wider Mediterranean”.
A PES Delegation will travel to Tunis this coming Sunday. They will use this occasion to show solidarity to the people of Tunisia and partners in the region.
