The PES condemns the terrorist attack that occurred yesterday outside a synagogue in East Jerusalem. Seven people have been shot dead and four more were injured when a man opened fire at people at the entrance of the synagogue and bystanders.
PES president Stefan Löfven said:
“Our hearts and minds are with the families of the victims. Such a terrorist attack outside a house of worship is horrible, even more, than it occurred on International Holocaust Remembrance Day. We condemn the attack in the strongest possible way.”
This was the deadliest attack of such kind since 2011. Israeli police say that the perpetrator was neutralized.
The European Socialists and Democrats send their condolences to the citizens who lost their loved ones in the attack and wish a swift recovery to the injured, among whom is a 15-years old boy.
