‘I extend my warm congratulations to President-Elect Kabore on winning the elections in the first round. We have been in contact with the MPP during this year, prior to the start of their election campaign and are delighted that it has been successful. I hope and trust that this will allow Burkina Faso to move on from the political instability of late, including a failed coup which delayed the election. It is now for President-Elect Kabore to show that he will stick to his promise to bring in a new era in Burkina Faso politics, as he promised.
I wish the MPP the very best in securing a coalition which will bring hope and stability to Burkina Faso, after the transitional government which has governed since October 2014.’
