We are shocked and saddened by the tragic mass shooting that took place in Prague last night. 14 young people lost their lives at the Art Department of Charles University and 25 more people were injured when a student opened gunfire in the University before being found dead.
PES President Stefan Löfven said:
“Our hearts and minds are with the families and the loved ones of the victims in the Prague shooting. We hope for a swift recovery of the ones that were injured. Our sincere condolences to the students and the professors at the Charles University in Prague and to the people of the Czech Republic.”
European Socialists and Democrats stand next to the Czech people in this darkest hour. We hope the investigation will fully clear the motive behind the tragic shooting.
