‘Tunisia has endured two terrible tragedies in the last few months’, says PES President Sergei Stanishev. ‘In these challenging times, it’s important that we show our strongest support to the people of Tunisia. We cannot allow for these horrible events to nurture a climate of fear and isolate a vital neighbour and ally of the EU. This is why we want to show that we stand with Tunisia and the Tunisian people.’
On 15 July the delegation will meet Head of Government Habib Essid and several civil society organisations. The next day they will visit the Sousse memorial and have meetings with government officials.
