PES president Sergei Stanishev said:
“It appears that densely populated areas of Mexico City have borne the brunt of the damage, and rescue efforts are hampered by the threat of further collapses, gas leaks and difficulties in using mobile networks.
“Our thoughts today are with the people of Mexico, especially those searching for loved ones in the aftermath of the quake, and with the emergency services who are working to rescue survivors in a highly dangerous environment.”
