“Today we are calling for a cessation of fighting so that further deaths and casualties in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can be avoided, in particular of civilians. I hope that this latest escalation in violence can be a short hiatus in what has been a long standing ceasefire, since 1994, and that in the longer term a durable solution can be found. I commend the work of the OSCE Minsk Group towards this aim.”
