PES president Sergei Stanishev said: “We are appalled by this gratuitous violence. This indiscriminate attack is an attack on all of us and we are deeply affected by it. We will stand with our British friends.
“It is doubly painful to hear of people dying in London at the very same moment we were commemorating the victims of the attacks in Brussels a year ago. This is a painful reminder that the threat of indiscriminate violence and terrorism remains very present in Europe, whatever the ideology behind this attack.”
“It is also clear from the location of the attacks that these were intended not only as an assault on innocent people, but also on the principle of democracy which is one of our highest values. We will stand firmly against terrorism and we call on all European countries to strengthen their cooperation to fight this threat,” added Stanishev.
