Born in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, Nora Mebarek served as a local elected representative in Arles (Bouches-du-Rhône, France) for more than 20 years.
A Member of the European Parliament since February 2020, she belongs to the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D Group). Since October 2022, she has co-chaired the French delegation of the Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament.
In 2020, she was appointed to the Conference on the Future of Europe (COFOE).
Vice-Chair of the Committee on Regional Development (REGI) since January 2022, she has been an active member of the Committees on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), Transport and Tourism (TRAN) and Fisheries (PECH) during the 2019-2024 term. Since 2024, she has also been a member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs.
Nora Mebarek has worked for many years on issues concerning the Mediterranean at regional level in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. She continues this commitment within the European Parliament’s Delegation to the Union for the Mediterranean.
Committed to her region and to working in the field, she makes it a point of honour to travel to support stakeholders in their projects in France and internationally.
In September 2025, she was elected Vice-President of the Party of European Socialists.
