Solidarity, justice, security, sustainability and progress for all – thanks to a campaign focused on these themes, the Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) has secured a solid result at the general election in Luxembourg. The Party of European Socialists (PES) today congratulates its full member party.
Preliminary results show LSAP secured 18.9% of the vote, up from the 17.6% at the last election in 2018. This translates into 11 mandates – an increase of one seat in Luxembourg’s 60-seat parliament.
The LSAP campaign – led by LSAP lead candidate and First Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg Paulette Lenert – had a strong progressive focus. The right to good and affordable housing, action on the cost of living, better healthcare, and stronger workers’ right are core social democratic policies that clearly resonated with voters.
LSAP has a strong record in government over many years and is delivering at the European level too. Inspired by this work, the PES believes a strong LSAP presence in the new government is the best path forward for Luxembourg.
