PES President Stefan Löfven and PES Executive Secretary General Giacomo Filibeck were present in Montréal, Canada, to take part in high-level discussions on priorities such as economic growth for all, investing in good jobs as we tackle climate change, and renewing trust in how democracy delivers results for people amid rapid geopolitical shifts around the world.
Co-hosted by Canada 2020 and CAP Action, the Global Progress Action Summit convened leading global progressive figures from governments, academia, and civil society. PvdA-Green leader and former Executive Vice President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans, leader of SAP and former Prime Minister of Sweden Magdalena Andersson, former Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin, Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre, former Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern, and leader of the UK Labour Party Keir Starmer were among the high-level participants present at the summit.
Held under the title Transforming the Economy to Combat the Climate Crisis and Build Inclusive Societies, President Löfven spoke at the event on the panel Investing in Quality Jobs to Tackle Climate Change. He also held bilateral meetings with key social democratic leaders.
