At the eve of a year with several major elections in EU member states – amongst others in France and in Germany, the European Union is facing many challenges. In particular for the younger generations. The announcement of the The European Youth Plan this summer was the first step forward.
“The Council in Prague should be focused on the young people of Europe. The leaders from the PES family already committed to youth and agreed that a Better Union should be passed on to our children and grandchildren”, PES President Sergei Stanishev said.
During the Council in Prague we will discuss about the future of Europe, of European youth, on how to tackle challenges like unemployment, poverty, inequality, climate change together. Of course with a special eye for the political challenges in Central and Eastern Europe. And last but not least, we will discuss about democracy in Europe in times of growing populism and extremism.
The Council will be preceded by an activists’ forum on 1 December, as well as a PES Women council on the same date. On 2 and 3 December a large variety of panels, workshops, artistic and musical performances, a market and other interesting activities will be organised.
