“The European Election are, in organisational time, just around the corner”. PES President Sergei Stanishev stated at the meeting. “For the PES our grassroots are key, the party is nothing without its people and our job in the next 5 months will be to mobilize this force to bring real political change on a European level that will improve the lives of millions of citizens. In the campaign our party will be the one that speaks as the voice of the people because our party is the only credible opportunity for real change – a progressive, social Europe of growth, jobs and innovation.” Mr. Stanishev continued.
The theme of the day was the European elections 2014, which are only 159 days away. The Election Manifesto preparations were discussed by the PES Presidency as well as the campaign of the PES Common Candidate and various EU policy making developments. The Presidency also referred to the successful kick-off of Martin Schulz’s field organising campaign to become European Commission President which the PES organised in Paris last weekend.
The PES Presidency is made up from representatives from each of the PES Member Parties.
