President of the Party of European Socialists Stefan Löfven joined progressive leaders from around the world at the Progressive Alliance Global Convention this weekend in Santiago, Chile.
Leaders and high-level representatives from more than 80 progressive parties and organisations worldwide attended the event, holding a strategic discussion on topics such as protecting democracy, fostering economic and social progress, climate change, securing peace, and promoting gender equality.
PES President Löfven spoke at the convention’s Leaders Panel, titled “Transforming the 21st Century through Progressive Politics and International Cooperation.”
President Löfven said:
“What we have achieved during this Convention not only brings us closer together but also helps to define a common progressive agenda to tackle the global challenges ahead. At the Party of European Socialists, we are convinced that by joining forces, progressive movements around the world will emerge stronger, and citizens worldwide will be the main beneficiaries of our cooperation.”
During the convention in Chile, Machris Cabreros was re-elected as coordinator for the Progressive Alliance, as the forum recognised her efforts to strengthen international progressive cooperation. PES President Löfven expressed the gratitude of the PES for Ms Cabreros’s work to date and wished her good luck for her next term.
