PES Secretary General Giacomo Filibeck, who was in Lisbon with our colleagues from PS Portugal for the primaries said:

“We are looking forward to work with Pedro Nuno Santos ahead of the PES election congress in Rome in March and in the campaign for the European elections 2024. I know him from the time he was a successful leader of  Juventude Socialista and he will offer Portugal a progressive alternative to the conservative and far right based on solidarity, fairness and sustainability. He is a capable and skilled negotiator and will put these skills to good use for the whole of  Portugal as prime minister following the elections of the 10th of March.”
