Commenting on this initiative, the President of the Party of European Socialists (PES) Sergei Stanishev said: “I think that the initiative of Fofi is the right step at the right time. I want to express my strongest support, and join my voice to her call for unity.
There is no doubt in my mind that Greece and every European country needs a strong social-democratic, pro-European voice. This is the voice that can oppose the neoliberal and conservatives policies of the right, and act as a shield against all forms of populism and its false promises.
Greece continues to go through difficult times, making unity all the more important. This call is an opportunity that must not be missed.”
