PES President Sergei Stanishev said: ”We want young people to have a positive image of Europe, a progressive project that challenges the austerity policies imposed by the centre-right and the gloomy images projected by populism. We believe that our European Youth Plan will bring hope and ensure better future to the younger generation.”
The European Youth Plan of the PES contains policy proposals to help young people find jobs and build a career path, to improve the Erasmus programme, to boost European culture and to guarantee decent living standards for all children in Europe.
Stanishev said: “If the European Union is not able to prove its added value, it won’t succeed in the long term and we want it to succeed, because we believe that it is essential for our well-being. Our younger generation needs to learn that by experience, as our generation did. In the name of the PES, I wish all of our activists a very successful action day and I thank them in advance for their commitment and passion.”
Youth Plan supporters are planning to take family photos of the participants in all the countries, patch them together in one giant family photo and tag on it everyone who was attending the Action day. The PES, YES (Young European Socialist) and their partners from different progressive organisations initiated the Action day.
