PES Secretary General Giacomo Filibeck met with Hesam Dastpish, representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (PDKI) to the European Parliament, at the PES headquarters in Brussels to exchange views on the latest political and human rights developments in Iran.
The discussion highlighted the urgent need for unity, coordination, and sustained engagement among progressive forces in support of democracy, social justice, and fundamental rights. Participants stressed the shared responsibility of progressives to stand with those resisting authoritarianism and repression, and to amplify democratic voices both within Iran and internationally.
This commitment is already reflected in the continued solidarity of PES member and sister parties with the Women, Life, Freedom movement — a powerful and enduring expression of resistance that has brought global attention to the courage of Iranian women, minorities and civil society, and their call for equality, dignity, and democratic change.
