PES supports further Balkan integration, encourages EU pre-accession reforms
The Party of European Socialists stressed its support for a European path for the Western Balkans at the two day EU – PES Balkans high-level conference in Podgorica and Tirana. Prime Ministers from the PES family and leaders of the social-democratic parties from the region, PES and S&D group representatives, attended the event co-hosted by both our associate members – Socialists’ Democratic Party of Montenegro and the Albanian Socialist party.
PES and Progressive Alliance on a mission to Malaysia, call for fair elections
The Party of European Socialists is concerned about the lack of conditions for free and fair voting process in Malaysia in the light of upcoming national elections planned for August. A delegation of the Progressive Alliance, where the PES is represented, has visited Malaysia early this week on an observation mission.

The Party of European Socialists warmly welcomes the European Commission’s proposal to tax digital companies according to the profits generated in each country. This is a long-awaited improvement which will allow to fight tax avoidance from digital giants.
PES European Affairs Ministers prepare for the March European Council
European affairs ministers from the Party of European Socialists in a meeting today in preparation of the March European Council discussed digital taxation and the rule of law in Poland. They welcomed the Commission’s initiative to include social indicators in the European Semester and for paying closer attention to national tax regimes.
