PES Finance Ministers call for a progressive, growth-friendly and democratic Economic and Monetary Union
Finance ministers from the Party of European Socialists met today to discuss measures for ensuring that the deepening of the Economic and Monetary Union promotes sustainable economic growth, employment and financial stability.

High-level party representatives, ministers, MEPs and members of national parliaments from the PES political family, trade unions and the civil society will discuss how to make globalisation work for everyone in a conference in Brussels on 12 October. Influential academics such as economist Jeffrey Sachs will participate.

PES Finance Ministers had an exchange of views today on the future of the EMU in the light of President Juncker’s State of the Union address and that of other European leaders. They agreed to continue their discussion in coordination with the PES members of the European Parliament in view of the presentation of the Commission’s proposals on December 6.
