PES supports further Balkan integration, encourages EU pre-accession reforms
The Party of European Socialists stressed its support for a European path for the Western Balkans at the two day EU – PES Balkans high-level conference in Podgorica and Tirana. Prime Ministers from the PES family and leaders of the social-democratic parties from the region, PES and S&D group representatives, attended the event co-hosted by both our associate members – Socialists’ Democratic Party of Montenegro and the Albanian Socialist party.
PES European Affairs Ministers prepare for the March European Council
European affairs ministers from the Party of European Socialists in a meeting today in preparation of the March European Council discussed digital taxation and the rule of law in Poland. They welcomed the Commission’s initiative to include social indicators in the European Semester and for paying closer attention to national tax regimes.
PES president meets Albanian prime minister in Brussels
PES President Sergei Stanishev met with the Prime minister of Albania, Edi Rama, at the PES headquarters in Brussels today. Albanian progress towards EU accession and the role of the country in keeping stability and cooperation in the Western Balkans were both discussed during the meeting.
