The Party of European Socialists strongly rejects the groundless sanctions on top EU and European officials taken by the Russian Federation today. These include measures against the President of the European Parliament David Sassoli, as well as Commission Vice-President for Values and Transparency Věra Jourová and six other EU officials.

The Party of European Socialists reiterates its support for the public accountability of Frontex’s work, in the light of the attempts from the German interior ministry – run by Horst Seehofer – to obstruct the investigation of five cases of possible human rights violations concerning pushbacks of migrant boats off the Greek coast.
