PES deeply concerned about the Kurds in Northern Syria
The Party of European Socialists is extremely worried about the fate of the Kurdish population in Northern Syria, after President Trump’s announced decision to withdraw the US troops stationed in the region. The PES believes that this will open a power vacuum that can be exploited by Turkey to occupy and alter the population structure across the Syrian border.

PES Migration and Integration Network calls for equal treatment of all children
The Party of European Socialists called for equal treatment of migrant children and native children alike, at a public conference co-hosted with our Maltese member party Partit Laburtista, at the National Museum of Archaeology in Valetta. PES Deputy Secretary General Marije Laffeber, the minister of home affairs of Malta, Dr Michael Farrugia, MEPs Miriam Dalli, Javier Moreno and Julie Ward – from the S&D group – and Ann Marie Pisani from the Agency for the Welfare of Asylum Seekers and Alfred Grixti from the Foundation for Social Welfare Services took part.
