PES welcomes agreement for fair elections in the FYROM

The Party of European Socialists welcomes the agreement reached between the government and the opposition of the FYR of Macedonia to have elections in the country this December.

PES welcomes appointment of Marian Lupu to run presidential election in Moldova

The Party of European Socialists welcomes the appointment of Marian Lupu of associated party PDM as a candidate to the office of President of the Republic of Moldova. The election will take place on 30 October.
PES President Sergei Stanishev said: “I warmly welcome the candidacy of Marian Lupu for the presidential election. He is an experienced, progressive, pro-European leader who can soundly manage the complicated political situation in Moldova. I wish him and PDM all the best for the election”.

PES commits to raise awareness on missing migrant children and on refugee crisis’ gender perspective at Korcula School 2016

The Party of European Socialists and PES Women joined again the Korcula School, organised by the CEE Network for Gender Issues. The 5th edition of the event focuses on the Refugee and Migrant crisis, but through a gender differentiated perspective. The school took place in the Croatian city of Korcula during the weekend.

PES joins Europride Amsterdam to advocate LGBTI rights

On Friday, 5th of August, during the Europride in Amsterdam, the Party of European Socialists (PES) and the Dutch Labour Party (PvdA) will co-host a conference on building towards equal rights for LGBTI in the EU member states.

The conference, called “LGBTI rights in Europe, political answers to an activist analysis” is organised by Rainbow Rose and the Dutch Roze Network together with the support of PES and the PvdA.
