The Party of European Socialists (PES) President Sergei Stanishev offered today its warm congratulations to Dilma Vana Rousseff for her re-election for a second term as President of Brazil. Ms Rousseff, who has been in power since 2010, was re-elected yesterday with 51.6% of the vote.

Today, 9 October, Justice Ministers from the PES family met ahead of the Justice and Home Affairs Council in Luxemburg. The occasion of this first meeting of the PES Justice Ministers was to improve their coordination and enhance common progressive positions.

Today, representatives from progressive parties in Europe and Asia gathered to discuss common challenges ahead of the ASEM Summit taking place in Milan on 16 and 17 October. They agreed on a statement focusing on inclusive growth and quality jobs, climate change and human rights.
